## What is Āut Labs
Āut Labs is the collective behind the Āutonomy Matrix - the first fully decentralized, aggregated system to calculate the reputation of an individual based on their participation to decentralized communities, apps, hubs, etc.
It's the first of its kind, it's [math-based](https://app.gitbook.com/s/tx5aZfM9w94ooSZf3y3O/peer-value), and it's fully self-sovereign - meaning that people and communities take the decisions and assign their own arbitrary values. Not us, or any other "authority."
This opens the space to a new type of economy, based on value rather than wealth - and a new asset class, called RepFi, Reputation Finance - powered by the [$AUT token](https://docs.aut.gg/aut/broken-reference).
## Mission
Our protocols are designed to power the next generation of human coordination, in a mission to *accelerate the transition from authoritarian, centralized power structure, to non-hierarchical, more efficient, self-organizing forms of coordination*.
## History & Background
Āut is the "V2" of SkillWallet (you may read more about our transition [here](https://blog.skillwallet.id/road-to-v2-skillwallet-is-now-%C4%81ut-c2cfcd7f9a0b)).
### Name
From the Greek *avtós*, āut means "Self"
Just like in *Self-Sovereign*, or *Self-governance*.
